A quick guide to travelling on our buses

3 weeks ago Thu 30th Apr 2020

During these uncertain times we would like to keep you updated on what we are doing to maintain a safe and responsible bus service.

Social distancing we would like to thank our customers for continuing to practice social distancing whilst travelling on our buses. We recognise it can be difficult, especially when dealing with drivers, entering and exiting the bus however we thank you in advance for continuing to take care of yourself, be mindful of others and keep your distance at all times.

As more people travel, we are introducing distancing lines where appropriate on bus.

Facial covering both the Scottish and UK Government encourage people to wear facial covering when travelling on public transport and visiting shops. Based on this recommendation we would ask you to consider wearing face coverings whilst travelling on our buses.

On bus cleanliness our vehicles are deep cleaned every night by our amazing cleaning team. During the day our drivers have their own bus for the duration of their shift. Key hot spot areas such as hand poles, seat back and buzzers are disinfected throughout the day.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) all our teams are provided with PPE.

Customer hand sanitiser we have installed hand sanitisers on all our buses.

Encouraging contactless we would ask all customers to consider paying with contactless cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or our app tickets rather than cash. Cash is still accepted however we would ask for each of you to try to avoid on bus cash payments.

Free NHS travel until further notice all NHS workers can travel free on our bus services.

To qualify for free travel, NHS staff simply show their valid NHS card to travel. We are hoping to offer NHS free app tickets and will keep you updated.

Serving our communities we are committed to keeping our communities moving and served during these difficult and uncertain times. Delivering a safe and responsible bus service is our number one priority.

Watch our video which offers a tiny snapshot of our new world; from our hard working and amazing teams to you our wonderful customers.

Take care and stay safe,

The Borders Buses Team
