Wheelchair Access
All our buses meet the legal requirement to have a bay which can accommodate a standard reference wheelchair.
Buses are designed to carry one wheelchair at a time and priority to the bay is given to a wheelchair user. Our buses are equipped with low floors and ramps to allow wheelchair users to board our services with ease.
We allocate coaches to some journeys. Coaches are fully wheelchair accessible by a lift which is installed on all coaches. However, we realise some customers with mobility requirements prefer not to travel on these vehicles. As such, we have introduced a feature on our app which allows you to track your bus live. On services X95 and X62, you can click the bus icon for more information and coaches will be marked 'COACH' after the vehicle registration. We are working to extend this feature across the whole network.
To make your journey as simple as possible, please note:
- Drivers park as close to the kerb as possible when you board and alight the vehicle.
- You should get on and off the bus facing forwards.
- Apply your brake and make use of the bars/handles in place throughout the journey.
Our drivers and customer service team will do their utmost to help make your journey as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance if you require it.
Mobility Scooters
Mobility scooters can be carried on our vehicles as long as, when folded, they do not exceed the size which would fit in the boot of a car. Please get in touch with our team if you are unsure if this applies to you or you have further questions.
Prams and pushchairs
Unfolded prams and pushchairs can be carried on our buses. You should be prepared to fold your pushchair if requested by the driver to allow a wheelchair user on board. If you are unable to collapse your pushchair or relocate to another part of the bus, the driver can issue you with a complimentary ticket to allow you to board the next bus.
To make your journey as simple as possible, please take care to ensure:
- your pushchair does not obstruct the aisle.
- the brakes are applied.
- you remain with the pushchair for the duration of the journey.
- the handles are not overloaded with bags, as it may cause it to tip over.
Blind and partially sighted customers
Our customer service team and drivers are trained to provide assistance to visually impaired customers. All our drivers must stop for customers with white canes to state their service number and destination.
We invite visually impaired customers to call our Information Hub at Galashiels Interchange on 01896 754350 to let us know when you are travelling and where from and we can let the driver know you'll be there.
All dogs are welcome on board our buses. They must remain on a lead and be seated on the floor at all times.
