Lauder Common Riding

3rd August

Lauder is proud to be one of the original Border Common Ridings, with references to the festival dating back to the 1600s. The event is a highlight in the town's calendar every year.

The Common Riding is a traditional border-marking event on horseback dating back to the conflicts between Scots and English over where the border between the two countries lay. To honour the town's past, the event has become a day of celebration and commemoration.
