Service improvements for Berwickshire
We have been working with Scottish Borders Council to explore ways to further improve bus services in the Berwickshire area, whilst providing coverage following Travelsure’s soon to be cancelled services, which they operate on behalf of Scottish Borders Council.
The following changes will be implemented from Monday 23 October 2023. All new bus times can be found at in our timetable and journey planner section.
Service 32
NEW. This service will operate between Berwick-upon-Tweed, Paxton, Hutton, Whitsome, Swinton and Duns. This is a Monday to Friday service.
Service 51
This service has been revised to operate from Galashiels, Langlee and Melrose then on to Newtown St Boswells for journeys to Edinburgh.
Connections with services 67/68 now available from Newtown, St Boswells.
Service 60
We are introducing a new hourly frequency from Monday to Saturday between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Duns. Service 60 will now serve Eyemouth; this will be a two hourly service.
Between Duns and Galashiels, the service will continue to operate every two hours.
Some journeys will allow for direct travel between Eyemouth and BGH/Galashiels.
Based on customer feedback, last journey from Berwick will be moved from 1705 to 1715.
We will continue to maintain a two hourly service to and from Foulden.
Service 61
In providing good service coverage across the network we removed the overlap of services 51 and 61operating along the same bus route. It is now served by service 51 only.
The new 51 timetable retains the early and late travel opportunities of service 61. However this now means Dingleton will no longer be served by Borders Buses, for customers traveling to and from Dingleton please refer to Scottish Borders service 964 for bus times.
Service 235
A revision to journey times will be implemented to avoid conflict with other bus journeys operating between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Eyemouth.
Service 253
Based on customer feedback the last journey from Berwick-upon-Tweed will operate at 3pm and the last journey from Edinburgh will be 6pm.
We are pleased to announce an additional bus has been added to Pingo, the bus will operate Monday to Friday, and at busier times of the day.
The Pingo service will provide additional journey opportunities in the area between Reston and Duns, while offering better connectivity with rail services at Reston Railway Station.
We hope these additional journeys are welcomed by those in and around the Berwickshire area.
Eyemouth High School
From Ayton to Eyemouth High School refer to service 60 and 253 bus times.
Fromm Berwick to Eyemouth High School refer service 253 and 235 bus times.
